New Therapy Option for Alzheimer's
Non-invasive brain stimulation with focused shock waves - outpatient, painless, without surgery.
Shock Waves Against Forgetting
Alzheimer's dementia is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases. Despite intensive research, there are currently only a few treatment options that can noticeably slow cognitive decline.
In 2018, Transcranial Pulse Stimulation was approved in the EU as the first non-invasive procedure of its kind for the treatment of Alzheimer's dementia. It pursues an entirely new approach: stimulating brain tissue using pulsed shock waves - a method already used successfully in other medical fields.
The goal of the therapy is to reactivate neuronal activity in affected brain areas and slow the progression of the disease.

Non-invasive Brain Stimulation
In TPS therapy, mechanical shock waves are applied through the skull to selected brain regions. This triggers change processes in the cells, such as:
- Improved blood flow
- Stimulation of growth factors
- Increased neuroplasticity
Depending on the individual situation, this can lead to an improvement in symptoms:
- Improved memory and language performance
- Better orientation and cognitive clarity
- Slowed cognitive decline
And thereby strengthening the independence and quality of life of those affected.

The transducer focuses the shock waves so they reach their maximum intensity at a defined depth.

How Your Treatment Works
Initial Consultation with the Doctor
Dr. Schwarz assesses together with you whether TPS is suitable for you - including indication assessment and clarification of possible contraindications. Without obligation and without referral.
Treatment Block· 6 sessions
The treatment consists of 6 sessions spread over 2-3 weeks. Depending on further progress, additional sessions may follow later.
The Session· approx. 30 minutes
Each session is medically accompanied and individually planned. The treatment is painless - without surgery, without additional medication.
Progress Monitoring
Before and after the therapy block we record your neurological status. A further check takes place 6 weeks after the last session.

What is Transcranial Pulse Stimulation?
TPS (NEUROLITH®) is a non-invasive, EU-approved procedure for the treatment of Alzheimer's dementia - without surgery, without anaesthesia, without medication.
- Stimulates the entire brain with ultrasound impulses
- Can reactivate weakened nerve cells and strengthen synaptic connections
- Clinical studies show improvement of clinical symptoms in a portion of patients
- CE-approved as a medical device in the EU since 2018

NEUROLITH® by Storz Medical
The NEUROLITH® system by Swiss medical technology manufacturer Storz Medical is used. It is currently the only device for Transcranial Pulse Stimulation and has been CE-certified as a medical device for the treatment of Alzheimer's dementia in the EU since 2018.
The handpiece generates short, focused shock wave impulses that are guided precisely through the skull bone into defined brain areas - to a depth of around 8 centimetres. Treatment is planned using MRI: based on individual imaging, the target regions are determined before the first session and navigated to millimetre precision using an optical tracking system during treatment.
In our practice, we work with a permanently installed NEUROLITH® system. Each session is medically planned, documented and individually tailored to the patient.
